Leonard Sobel Obituary
January 21, 2023
Leonard Sobel, age 94 of Bridgeport, CT, passed away peacefully on Saturday, January 21, 2023 at Jewish Senior Services in Bridgeport.
Leonard was born in Bridgeport, a son of the late Sam and Rachel Sobel. After graduating High School, he honorably served in the U.S. Army. He attended several universities where he obtained degrees in psychology and mathematics. Thereafter, he met the love of his life, Myrna Leah. After marrying, they moved to Illinois where he graduated from the Illinois College of Optometry. He was a lifelong learner who loved to travel. He was a voracious reader and was passionate about computers and all new technology.
Dr. Sobel is survived by his loving family including his children: Carrie Holskin, Hydie Sobel and Erwin Melis, and Alan and Julie Sobel; his grandchildren Sam (Ariane), Josh (Leticia), Sara (Nick), Le'elage, Mosei, McKenna, and Mitchell; and his great-grandchildren Giovana and Olivia.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, January 25, 2023 at 2:00 PM at Abraham L. Green and Son Funeral Home, 88 Beach Road, Fairfield, with interment following at Beth El Cemetery, 250 Reid Street, Fairfield. Shiva will be observed at the home of Carrie Holskin in Fairfield immediately following services.
