Louis Mangione Obituary

Louis "Gino" Mangione
Louis "Gino" Mangione, age 84, entered into eternal rest on February 2, 2018, at Yale-New Haven Hospital. He was the beloved and devoted husband to Mary Ellen A. Geffert Mangione. Mr. Mangione was born in Caltanissetta, Sicily, Italy on April 10, 1933, son of the late Joseph and Concetta Vinci Mangione. He emigrated from Italy on February 12, 1948 where he resided in Seymour until moving to Oxford fifty years ago. A self-employed general contractor, he was the owner of L. Mangione Construction Co. in Oxford, specializing in the installation of gas station pumps and storage tanks. He was a proud veteran of the U.S. Army, honorably serving during the Korean War. Gino helped build and was a proud founding member of the Sons of Italy on High Street in Derby, where he enjoyed playing cards and socializing with his friends. In addition to his wife Mary Ellen, he leaves to cherish his memory, a loving son, Guido J. Mangione of Oxford, loving daughters, Lucrezia Mangione (Greg Elin) of Silver Spring, MD, Belinda F. Mangione Welton (D. James) of Southbury and Claudia Mangione Luff (Jeffrey) of Oxford, a brother, Salvatore Mangione (Lina) of Oxford, sisters, Melina Distefano of Wrentham, MA and Teresa Hartranft (Ed) of Yarmouth, MA, cherished grandchildren, Nicole Welton of Ft. Myers, FL, Haili Welton of Medford, MA and Miya, Grady and Lia Luff of Oxford as well as more than several nieces and nephews. Visiting hours will be held on Tuesday February 6, 2018, from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. in the chapel of the SPINELLI-RICCIUTI/BEDNAR-OSIECKI FUNERAL HOME, 62 Beaver Street in Ansonia. On Wednesday, his funeral will begin at 9:15 a.m. at the funeral home, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. at Holy Rosary Church in Ansonia. Mary Ellen and Family,
We are so very sad and so sorry to hear of the passing of Gino. He certainly loved the Sons of Italy and always gave us a warm hello when we went to the Friday night dinners (which he loved). We appreciate all his past deeds for the benefit of the club. We will miss him deeply. We know you will cherish all the many memories and they will comfort you.
Take care!
Barbara and Ray Ostrosky

Sorry for your loss, I had the pleasure, the privilege and the honor, to work for, lear from you. I started working for him as a young guy with little knowledge about life. I let with a wife two wonderful boys and many construction projects. Thank you for everything

So sorry for your loss. Guido and Claudia were two of the greatest kids I ever met. As a coach at St. Margarets McTernan I was blessed to have Guido play varsity soccer for me and was able to watch Claudia play for the girls team.
I'm sure Dad was instrumental in shaping the values that were evident in such good athletes' and students'.

Zio Gino,
The loss is immeasurable but so is the love left behind. You will be remembered always as a kind and generous uncle.

Zia & Cousins,
After the tears have dried and the goodbyes have been said, all we have to hold onto are the happy memories - this is what keeps our loved ones alive in our hearts and in our minds. Look back on all the good memories often and smile. We are always here for you.
Love,
Uncle Dan, Dan, Theresa, Patricia & Natalie.
