Magdalena Chren Obituary

CHREN Magdalena Chren, 81, of Hogsback Road, Oxford entered into rest at Connecticut Hospice in Branford on Monday, September 16, 2002. She was the beloved wife of the late Gregor Chren. Having been born on January 22, 1921 in Michalovce, Slovakia, daughter of the late Thomas and Anna Nemeth, Magdalena escaped in 1952 with her two daughters through the woods at night into Germany to join her husband, Gregor, who was an escaped political prisoner of the communists, in order to give her children the gift of freedom. She is survived today by her daughter, Aggie Terrill and her husband John, who she resided with the past six years in Oxford. She was predeceased by a daughter, Zlata Eva Saccone in 1997, and survived by her son-in-law, Frank Saccone of Huntington. She is survived by a sister Alzbeta Nyarjasova of Michalovce, Slovakia; and four grandchildren Stephanie Ann Saccone of Milford, John H. Terill and his wife, Jennifer of Hamden and Laura E. Terrill of Oxford and her fiance, Kent Pratt of Southbury, Michael Saccone and his wife Monika; and great granddaughter Alyssa Love Saccone of Milford. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated in St. Thomas the Apostle Church, 733 Oxford Road, Oxford, on Wednesday, September 25 at 10:30 a.m. Interment will be in Oxford Congregational Cemetery. Family and friends may call at the Ralph E. Hull Funeral Home, 161 W. Church Street, Seymour, prior to the Mass, from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m. Memorial contributions may be made to the Ct Hospice, 100 Double Beach Road, Branford, CT 06405.
