Marc Carofano Obituary

Marc Anthony Carofano
Marc Anthony Carofano, 63, of Fairfield, passed away peacefully at The Connecticut Hospice, Inc., on Monday, February 5, 2018. He was born in New Haven to the late Leo and Elaine (Ericks) Carofano and was a lifelong area resident.
Marc attended Bullard Havens Technical High School and spent many years working in all phases of electrical and mechanical engineering to include closed circuit telemetry, alarm and electrical systems installations. More recently, he enjoyed working as a propulsion technician on the new Metro North M-8 trains. Marc was a tinkerer and a mechanic by nature and enjoyed the challenge of coming up with creative and ingenious solutions.
An avid ultralight aircraft pilot for over 40 years, Marc was the first dealer for the Weedhopper Ultralight Airplane in Connecticut and was a member of the Weedhopper Aircraft Owners Group. He was a member of the Connecticut Air and Space Center, where he served as the mechanic on the Gustave Whitehead 1901 Airplane Replica project. He volunteered on the HMS Rose Restoration Project at Captain's Cove. Over the years, Marc enjoyed working on his Harley Davidsons, his planes and his jeep and was always ready to lend a hand and help his friends in any way he could.
Marc will be sadly missed by his significant other, Vita Toscano of Fairfield. He is survived by his grandchildren, Marc Anthony III, Megan and Marissa Carofano, as well as his daughter-in-law, Kerry Carofano, all of Pennsylvania. He is also survived by his son, Jeffrey Carofano and his grandchildren Raven, Tiffany and Dominic Carofano of Stratford. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Marc Anthony II and his brother Leo.
Family and friends are invited to call on Saturday, February 10, 2018 from 1 to 4 p.m. at the Shaughnessey Banks Funeral Home, 50 Reef Rd., in Fairfield Center. A Memorial Service will be held at 4 p.m.

Marc was a wonderful Brother in Christ and a "new Friend" I wish I had gotten to know better. May Jesus' love, comfort and strength be with Vita, family and friends. Marc is now happy and blessed in his new perfect body; but we still suffer. The men of Trinity Baptist Church will continue to lift you up in prayer.

Dear Marc, Your dedicated spirit will be missed here by so many. Thank you for honoring Gustave Whitehead, true inventor of the airplane and Fairfield resident, with your many years of volunteer work on his replica! You brought smiles to the young and old alike, undoubtedly. Soar high with the angels, now, and know that you made a difference here on earth. May God bless and comfort your loved ones in this time of sorrow.
