Maureen was the backbone of the Reader's Digest International Editions (RDIE) for many years. She was brilliant, funny, full of joie de vivre and greatly loved and admired by the international editions' staffs and by her co-workers in Pleasantville. During my ten years with RDIE, I often went to her for moral support and a good laugh. I am sad that she was lost to the awful disease that also killed my mother. Both women leave a wonderful legacy in their families and good works. Kathryn Phelps Summers/ Katonah, NY.

Maureen was one of my favorite Reader's Digest co-workers. Whenever my car was on the blink, she would give me a lift from my home in Danbury. These 30-minute drives were nonstop talk. She was a master storyteller with a wonderful blend of humor, sass, and warmth. I can still hear her lusty laughter at some of the tales I told her in return.
In a strange and mysterious coincidence, my eldest son, John, age 30, died unexpectedly on the same day we lost Maureen (see http://www.legacy.com/obituaries/newstimes/obituary.aspx?n=john-warfield-dunkle&pid=152314215). John had met Maureen on several occasions during his teens. They shared certain traits: love for reading and science, disdain for vanity and pretension, and a powerful curiosity that ranged over the entire landscape of human knowledge.
John had no car of his own. I wonder if Maureen gave him a lift on his way to heaven. I wonder what stories they told.
God bless and keep the Ward family as we share the sad journey ahead.

Kerry and family,
Sitting at my computer in Seven Lakes, NC, I saw the picture of your beloved Mother and knew her face immediately. Teaching Kerry in 6th grade, I got to meet her and so enjoyed her presence. I am so very sorry for you loss and wish we could pay our respects in person. Please know, Kerry, that we care very much and wish you peace in your journey.
With understanding, love and care,
Sue (Beninson) Davison
