Marie Hopkins Obituary

HOPKINS Marie Hopkins, age 74, of Bridgeport, died Friday, May 27, 2005, at St. Vincent's Medical Center. Born in Earhart, S.C., she had been a Bridgeport resident for more than 50 years. Marie was last employed as packer and printer with Waterbury Pen, Inc. She was one of the original members of Rainbow Temple Church, Inc. where she served in many capacities, most notably the Mothers Board and the Pastor's Aide Ministry. Survivors include: her daughter, Belinda McLeod of Bridgeport; stepdaughter, Jose Marie Hopkins of Baltimore, Md.; goddaughter, Joyce Corwell; a brother, Francis Ayers of Bridgeport; two sisters, Rose Funn of Jamaica, N.Y., and Linner Smith of Brooklyn, N.Y.; three sisters-in-law, Ruby Ayers of Bridgeport, Bertha McLawhorn of Greenville, N.C., and Rubena Hubert of Hempstead, N.Y.; five grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; a host of nephews, nieces, other relatives, friends, and her church family. Funeral services will be held Wednesday 11 a.m. at Rainbow Temple Church, Inc., 175 Success Avenue, Bridgeport, with Pastor Gladys Brooks officiating. Interment will take place in Mountain Grove Cemetery, Easton. Friends are invited to the viewing Wednesday from 10 to 11 a.m. at the church. Morton's Mortuary, 25 Margaret E. Morton Lane, Bridgeport, is in charge of arrangements.
