Marie Vitale Obituary

VITALE Marie Susan Neumon Vitale, age 90, of Fairfield, entered into eternal rest on Sunday, May 21, 2006 at the Jewish Home, Fairfield with her loving family by her side. Born in Bridgeport on October 26, 1915, she was the daughter of the late Joseph Stephen Neumon and Susan Estelle Hart Neumon and was a Bridgeport resident most of her life. Mrs. Vitale was the widow of Vincent James Vitale. Marie was a retired employee of Bullard Havens Regional Vocational School cafeteria for 20 years and from Gimbels Department Store of Bridgeport for 10 years. Throughout her life, she was devoted not only to her family who she loved dearly, but also to the many following clubs and organizations, the St. Augustine Lay Board, Council of Catholic Women, Augustana Association, very active in The Housatonic Girl Scouts, received the Marion Award for Excellence from Cardinal Lawrence Sheehan, the North End Boys and Girls Club of Bridgeport, St. Augustine School board member of the Council of Catholic Women and in 1994 went to Rome Italy and met with Pope John XXII. The Vitale family would like to thank the staff at the Jewish Home in the Kurinsky I unit for their loving care to their mother, Marie. Survivors include her beloved children, Susan V. Zimmer and husband, David, of Stratford, Thomas Vitale and wife, Nancy, of Stafford, Va., Rosemary V. Gillespie and husband, Lee U., of New Canaan and Vincent J. Vitale Jr. and wife, Margaret S., of Stratford; her loving grandchildren, Michael V. Zimmer, Meridan V. Vitale, Vincent Vitale, Dean P. Gillespie, Damien Vitale, Chanelle M. Vitale, Celine G. Vitale, Sandra L. Bradtmuller and Thomas Laliots; one brother, Joseph Neumon and wife, Helen, of Milford; nieces and nephews, Joseph, Alfred, Ronald, Norman and Stephen Neumon, Christine Fambrose and Julie Ambrogi. She was predeceased by one brother, Bert P. Neumon; two sisters-in-law, Ethel L. Vitale and Elsa O. Neumon; and one brother-in-law, Patrick Vitale. Friends are invited to attend the funeral on Wednesday, May 24, 2006 at 10 a.m. DIRECTLY in St. Augustine Cathedral, 359 Washington Avenue, Bridgeport with a Mass of Christian Burial. Interment in St. Michael Cemetery, Stratford. Friends may call on Tuesday from 4 to 8 p.m. in the Parente-Lauro Funeral Home, 559 Washington Avenue, Bridgeport. In lieu of flowers, the family requested donations be made to St. Augustine School Fund, 359 Washington Avenue, Bridgeport, CT 06604 in memory of Marie.
