Monahan, Mary Margaret.
Mary Margaret Monahan (nee Troy), age 82, of Fairfield, beloved wife of 53 years to Martin Monahan, entered into eternal rest on Friday, January 18, 2013. Born in Kilkee, County Clare, Ireland, the daughter of the late Patrick and Catherine Troy, she immigrated to Bridgeport in 1954, and was a longtime Fairfield resident. She worked at Fairfield University for over 25 years. She was a devout member of Holy Family Church and an active member of the Gaelic American Club. Her greatest joy was her family. She loved them all dearly and looked forward to spending time with them. She will always be remembered for her sincerity, humility, and strong faith in God. In addition to her husband Martin, Mary is survived by her four children: Dr. Brian Monahan (Mary) of Kensington, MD, Kathleen Ostenby (Peter) of St. Paul, MN, Dr. Kevin Monahan of Boston, MA, and Ann (Richard) Cimmino of Fairfield; her 12 grandchildren: Aileen, Erin, Claire, Kathleen, Connor, Caitlin, Megan, Shannon, Emily, Ryan, Katie, and Andrew; her brother Denis Troy (Barbara) of Milford; her sister-in-law Ann Monk of Fairfield; and several nieces and nephews. Mary is predeceased by her brother James Troy of County Clare, Ireland. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Wednesday, January 23, 2013 at 10:00 AM meeting DIRECTLY at Holy Family Church, Fairfield with interment to follow in Lawncroft Cemetery. Friends may call Tuesday from 4 - 8 PM in the Spear-Miller Funeral Home, 39 South Benson Road, Fairfield. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Holy Family Church, 700 Old Stratfield Road, Fairfield, CT 06825.
