Matt Zahler was a generous, warm-hearted father, husband, brother and friend. He passed on October 25th in Westport, CT. Matt lived a full life and put his entire spirit into everything he did.
Born in Indiana, Matt graduated in 1996 from Ball State University with a degree in Economics. He enjoyed a long career in investment management. Admired for his charismatic personality and good nature, Matt made friends wherever he went. With a playful sense of humor and a contagious smile, he filled any room with laughter and easy-going banter. He had a talent for lifting up those around him. He always expressed gratitude towards the smallest of gestures. Matt's greatest joy was his children. He made sure he was at every sporting event and every celebration. He was there for every moment and captured it all with his exceptional photography skills. Matt listened intently and always made you feel heard. Whether in spending time with his family in the backyard, playing monopoly, Yahtzee, or hide-and-seek, he wanted to make the most of every moment.
Matt leaves behind his wife Stephanie (Stevie) Zahler and daughter Winston (Winnie), sons Gavin, Emmett, and Clark, whom he shared with his former wife Melissa (Missy) Zahler. He also leaves behind his mother, Mary Zahler, his sister Michelle Keyes (Ahmed), niece and nephew Hailey and Miles Keyes, and brother Michael Zahler. He was preceded in death by his father, Mark Zahler.
A visitation will be held at Lesko Funeral Home (1209 Post Rd., Fairfield, CT), Sunday the 3rd of November 2024, 4 p.m.-8 p.m. The funeral will take place on Monday the 4th of November 2024, at 11 a.m. at Church of the Assumption (98 Riverside Ave., Westport, CT). In lieu of flowers, we ask that you make a donation to Experience Camps, a national no-cost program for grieving children who have experienced the death of a parent or primary caregiver.
