Mercedes "Merce" Cruz, a cherished matriarch, passed away peacefully on October 7, 2025, at the age of 90, surrounded by her loving family. She was the devoted wife of the late Julio Cruz Sr.
She is survived by her children, Julio Cruz Jr. and his wife, Adrianna, Wilfredo Cruz and his wife, Leidiana, Luis Cruz and his wife, Jennifer, and Mayra Cruz-Garcia; her beloved grandchildren, Lisa, Julianna, Jonathan, Isabel, Nicholas, Alvaro Jr., Aleena, Matthew, Alejandra, Diana, Jasmine, and EJ; great-grandchildren, Adrianna, Alianna, Theo, Victoria, Sofia, Carmelo, Ezra, Elias, Saidie, Sean, and Tristen; her siblings: Jorge, Carmelo, Jose, and Juan Garcia, Rosa and Angelina Garcia; and many cherished nieces and nephews.
Funeral services on Thursday, October 16, 2025, at 11:00 A.M. at Pistey Funeral Home, 2611 Main Street, Stratford, and at 12:00 P.M at St. Mary Church, 25 Sherman St., Bridgeport. Interment at Lakeview Cemetery. Friends may call on Wednesday from 5:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. Full obituary at www.pisteyfuneralhome.com . Rest in peace, Merce. Your love will guide us, always.
