Michael Philip Colangelo Jr., 69, son of the late Michael Colangelo Sr. and Pierina Colangelo, went home to his Father in heaven on July 12, 2023.
Michael was a proud Bridgeport native. He grew up on Garfield Avenue, where he formed lifelong friendships with several of the neighborhood crew.
He served the City for over 25 years in the sanitation division, and then went on to work for private refuse companies for many years. Michael enjoyed being behind the wheel of the garbage truck; he saw countless sunrises that way - no doubt, with a Parliament and coffee in hand.
Michael lived in Fairfield for many years with his late wife, Kathleen Hewitt, and her children, Amy and Gary Jeanfaivre, before they moved to Newtown, where he lived for the last two decades.
Michael loved his family, and was happiest enjoying a homemade Italian meal with them. He also loved his dog, Oreo, and Maggie before her.
He is survived by his stepdaughter, Amy Jeanfaivre, and her partner, Steven Guagliano, and their children, Briana, Mya, Karlie, Olivia, Abby, Luke, and Joey; and his stepson, Gary Jeanfaivre Jr., and his wife, Callie, and their children, Emmett, Isabelle, and Ivy. Michael also leaves behind extended family and friends who he loved dearly.
Friends are welcome to join the family for a service at 6 p.m. on Thursday, Aug. 17, at New Heights Baptist Church, 31 Main St., Newtown, CT.
