Milan Jass, age 79, of Stratford, passed away peacefully at home on February 11, 2025, of a broken heart, twelve days after the passing of his beloved wife of 52 years, Gladys. Milan was born in Komarov, Slovakia, on February 21, 1946 and was the son of the late Jozef and Maria (Kmec) Jaš. He came to America on February 14, 1969, after serving in the Army, and met the love of his life in night school learning English. He married Gladys Boczek in November 1972. Milan was a lead machinist at U.S. Baird in Stratford for over 30 years. Milan was a skilled craftsman and generously offered his time and talents to help friends and family with countless types of home projects. His greatest labor of love was the house he and Gladys built together. Through hard work and sacrifice, they provided their children opportunities they never had. Milan was a devout Catholic, and loved spending time with his family, especially his beloved grandchildren. He also loved to cook, and was known for his goulash at church picnics, as well as his homemade kielbasa. For the last ten years, he served as the devoted caretaker of his "Honey," Gladys. Milan is survived by his son, Mark Jass and his wife MaryAnne and their daughter, Stella of Trumbull, by his daughter, Monica Jass McMullan and her husband Jack and their children, Maeve, Brendan, and Owen of Southport. He will also be greatly missed by his beloved sister, Mary Piciw of Stratford, as well as by numerous cousins, nieces, nephews and countless friends who were loved like family. In addition to Gladys, Milan was predeceased by his sister, Anna Marticek of Bridgeport and by his brothers, Jan Jaš and Jozef Jaš of Komarov. Friends and family are invited to gather on Monday, February 17th, from 4-7 PM at Adzima Funeral Home, 50 Paradise Green Place, Stratford, CT. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, February 18th, at 10 am at Holy Name of Jesus Church in Stratford. Interment will be held at St. John's Cemetery in Stratford.
