Victor Jass, 91, of Alden, passed away on Tuesday, December 12, 2023 at Scenic Manor in Iowa Falls. Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. on Monday, December 18, 2023 at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Alden with burial in the Alden Cemetery. Visitation will be from 2-4 p.m. on Sunday at the Surls Funeral Home in Iowa Falls. Funeral arrangements are under the guidance of the Surls Funeral Home in Iowa Falls.
Victor Herman Jass was born October 3, 1932 in Alden, IA, the son of Herman and Alice (Briese) Jass. He graduated from the Iowa Falls High School in 1950. Victor entered the US Army and fought in the Korean War from 1952-54. He was united in marriage to Maxine Barbara Laughlin on January 26, 1958 at the First United Methodist Church in Iowa Falls.
Victor was a standout athlete in high school playing football and was a state runner up in wrestling. He was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Alden where he served on the council, was an Elder, Sunday School teacher and ushered, he was a former Commander of the Collins-Dunning American Legion Post 201 in Alden, and I-Club member. Victor farmed most of his life with his 2 brothers, Willliam and Harm. He retired from Prestressed Concrete in Iowa Falls in 1997. He was a big man with a big heart; cheerful and happy with a positive outlook, and always excited to see you. He truly loved his family, the Iowa Hawkeyes, Green Bay Packers and Chicago Cubs!
Victor is survived by his 3 daughters: Carol (Brook) Boehmler of Mason City, IA, Susan Reilly of Iowa Falls, IA, and Linda Jass of Boulder, CO, sister-in-law: Jill (Don) Fraser of Buckeye, IA and brothers-in-law: Dean Block of Webster City, IA and Mike (Laurie) Laughlin of Bronson, IA; 10 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren,
He was preceded in death by his wife: Maxine in 2008, son: Joseph in 2021, parents: Herman and Alice Jass, brothers: William and Harm Jass, sisters: Margaret Block and Anna Jass, son-in-law: Jeffrey Reilly and many others.
