Mona Rosen Obituary

ROSEN Mona K. Rosen, daughter of the late Louis and Rose Kravitz, previously of Waterbury, passed away Sunday, January 11,2009 at the Jewish Home for the Elderly in Fairfield. Mona grew up in Waterbury along with her sister Selma where they both cared for their ill mother because their father had passed on. During this time period that she cared for her mother, she also had to work to help out at home. Mona did not have much spare time, but when did, she learned how to play the piano. Years later Mona moved with her sister to Bridgeport. It was there that she studied to become a legal secretary and eventually became employed for many years at the law firm of Goldstein and Peck. While living in Bridgeport, she would occasionally visit friends in Waterbury and it was there that she met her future husband Irving Rosen at a dance. They dated, got married and moved back to Waterbury where she and my uncle had a loving marriage. On a personal, when describing Mona from a niece's point of view, Mona did not have children, but one would think she was a mother by how wonderful, loving and caring individual she was. There wasn't a moment that would go by that she didn't try to grab a hug and kiss or show her love for me. My brother and I had spent many summers at her and my uncle's home where she and I would spend much time together. Also, my brother had spent time at her house from time to time. She treated us as if we were her own children. There are so many words that could describe my aunt in addition to being wonderful, loving, caring, she was also a very affectionate, sociable and well liked by those she met. Mona was predeceased by her loving husband, Irving Rosen; sister and brother-in-law, Selma and Ben Kirschenbaum. Survivors include her niece and husband, Rachele and Mark Davis of Monroe and a nephew, Larry Kirschenbaum of San Rafael, Calif. Mona will be dearly and sadly missed by many. Funeral services for Mona will be held Wednesday, January 14 2009 in the Alderson Funeral Home of Waterbury 9 Holmes Ave. at 1 pm. Burial will be in Hebrew Benefit Cemetery, Waterbury. Shiva will be private. For more information or to place an on line condolence, visit Aldersonfuneralhomes.com.

Rach: Here I am, as we have both shared so many sensitive and deep losses over the past few years. Your Mom, your Dad, Nick, my Mom, my Aunt, and now, Mona........ My trust in God is that they are all happy in heaven as they meet and greet each other and certainly, Ben is establishing another person in his dance line club! I really believe that my Mom is loving Ben's dance club because Ben is holding her until my Dad arrives. He's the only male in heaven who dances....My Mom and Dad were a beautiful thing to watch as they danced the Polka!! May we all meet in heaven, Rach.......I'm confident. BELIEVE! I love you, Deb

Dear Rachele & Family,

Words can't express how deeply sorry I am for your loss. Mona was a beautiful woman inside and out. I will always remember her wonderful smile whenever I appeared at her door with or without Annie. She was an inspiration for us all.
My prayers are with you.
Sincerely,
