Nancy Morgan Obituary

Morgan, Nancy Sue
Nancy Sue Morgan of Shelton, CT, and St. George Island, FL, age 69, entered into rest peacefully in her home on Tuesday, December 29, with her loving family by her side. Born in Coeburn, VA, on September 7, 1946, Nancy was the daughter of the late John Clarence Miller and Blanche Louise Stanley. She is the beloved mother of Villia Struyk and her husband Gene of Shelton, Heather Morgan Modica and her husband George of Branford, and Matthew Morgan of Oxford, and loving grandmother of Connor Struyk, Cole Morgan, and Gavin and Garret Modica. She leaves her partner of 16 years Robert Petreycik. Nancy is the sister of Bonnie Carter, Joyce Bridgeman, Ronald Sabatini, John Miller, and Dean Miller Crause. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews. Nancy is predeceased by her late husband Matthew P. Morgan and her grandmother Edna Stanley. Having survived polio as a child, she was a childhood ambassador for the March of Dimes. A graduate of Shelton High School, she was crowned Miss Valley in 1965, after singing during the talent phase of the competition. She went on to study classical voice for more than 18 years. Nancy was the runner-up in the state-wide Jenny Lind competition for operatic performance, and sang in solo and group concerts. As a member of the Mendelssohn Choir of Connecticut, she performed with the Connecticut Grand Opera at numerous venues, including the Metropolitan Opera House and Stamford's Palace Theatre. Beautiful inside and out, Nancy had many varied talents. She became a certified life guard in her 30s and later was certified as a Reiki practitioner. She was an accomplished cook, loved collecting and restoring antiques, enjoyed walking on the beach, and was celebrated throughout her family for her ability to enchant every baby and child in the vicinity. Her grandchildren were her greatest joy. Friends may call on Saturday from 1:00-3:00 p.m. at the Riverview Funeral Home, 390 River Rd., Shelton. Her funeral service will follow at 3:00 p.m. at the parlor. The family requests that memorial contributions may be made to the ALS Association Connecticut Chapter, 4 Oxford Rd., Unit E4, Milford, CT 06460 or The Connecticut Hospice, Inc. 100 Double Beach Rd., Branford, CT 06405.
