Norman Melanson, 71, peacefully passed Saturday, March 1,2014, after a long battle with cancer. Formally of Milford and Wallingford CT, he moved to Sunset Beach, NC for his retirement.
Norman enjoyed serving in the Airforce and working for Exxon. His hobbies included: truck rodeos, singing in the church choir and playing golf. He was an active member of the Knights of Columbus Council 9039 in Shallotte, NC and Fourth Degree Assembly 3115 at St. Brendan, the Navigator Roman Catholic Church in Shallotte, NC, where he was laid to rest.
He was predeceased by his parents Frank and Lea Melanson, his brothers Romeo and Roland Melanson, along with sisters Leatrice Liposky and Lucille Melanson. Norman was survived by his wife Betsy; along with his children Chris Melanson, Cindi Burton, Debbie and her husband John Riccio, Doug and his wife Stefanie Melanson, Carrie and her husband Joe Verrilli, and Matthew Melanson. He is also survived by his brother Frank and sister in law Pat Melanson, his sister Mary Ann and her husband Peter Della Rocco, eight grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
