Olga Rethy Obituary

RETHY Olga Bodi Rethy, age 57, of Westport, formerly of Fairfield, beloved wife of Csaba Rethy, passed away in Yale-New Haven Hospital on August 22, 2005, after a long and courageous struggle with cancer. Born and raised in Transylvania, Olga came to the United States in 1987, and lived in Fairfield before recently moving to Westport. Proud of her Hungarian heritage, she was an active member of Calvin United Church of Christ, the Hungarian Cultural Society, and was a past president of the Pannonia Club. Olga's family and friends were the focus of her life. Spending time with her husband, daughters, and granddaughters gave Olga great joy. In addition to her devoted husband of 31 years, her memories will be cherished by her two loving daughters, Anna Rethy and her husband, Frode Aasgaard, of Norway and Agnes Rethy and her husband, Christopher Lynch, of Westport; three granddaughters, Isabel Aasgaard, Abigail and Vivien Lynch; four brothers, Sandor, Ferencz, Laszlo, and Istvan Bodi, all of Transylvania; one uncle, George Koszta and his wife, Irma, of Fairfield; one cousin, Christina Koszta of Trotter, N.J.; four nieces and two nephews; and many dear friends. Friends are invited to attend her memorial service on Saturday, August 27,2005 at 10 a.m. in the Greenfield Hill Congregational Church, 1045 Old Academy Road, in Fairfield, with Rev. Alida Ward officiating. Contributions in her memory may be directed to the Hungarian Cultural Society through the funeral home. Olga fought a gallant fight against cancer. I was always impressed with her courage and fortitude; she was an inspiration to us all. My sympathies go out to Csaba, Agnes, Anna and all Olga’s relatives and friends. Olga was a pillar of the Hungarian community and an elder in Calvin United Church, she will be sorely missed.

God bless her, she is at peace now.
