Paul Keith Manger, 89, died peacefully on January 25, 2024, at his home on Cape Cod, MA. He is survived by his wife, Nancy S. Manger. He leaves his children Jennifer A. Manger-Ranaudo and her husband Michael J. Yelle, Melissa M. Timmerman and her husband Curtis B. Timmerman, and Paul K. Manger, Jr. and his wife Marché I. Manger. In addition, he leaves his grandchildren Karen S. Timmerman and her husband Edi Matraxhiu, and Mark B. Kimmerman and his wife B. Kimmerman.
Paul graduated from Hillhouse High School in 1952. He then obtained a Bachelor of Mechanical Engineering from MIT in 1956. He graduated from the Coast Guard Academy and then went on to receive a master's in electrical engineering from Yale University.
Paul was President of Manger Die Casting Company in Derby, Connecticut, a business started by his father in 1956, where he also worked with his brother, Robert Manger.
A long-time resident of Bethany, CT, Paul was actively involved in the town. He served on the Industrial Development Commission responsible for buying the Bethany Airport. He served many terms on the Board of Finance and held the role as the Town Moderator for many years. He was Chairman of the Republican Town Committee and Chairman of the Building Committee for the Clarke Memorial Library addition. This addition was important to him as he was an avid reader.
Paul had a broad range of interests. As a Justice of the Peace, he married many couples locally. He and his wife Nancy raised white-faced herefords on their farm for 35 years, which kept him very busy. He was an avid skier and became a ski instructor. Paul loved flying his rare 1949 Cessna 195. He and his wife Nancy belonged to the Cessna 195 Club and participated in annual fly-ins around the country. He was also a certified airplane mechanic.
His later years were spent on Cape Cod, on the ocean, where he spent time with his family and reading.
There will be no calling hours and services are private. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Clarke Memorial Library, Amity Road, Bethany, CT or the Bethany Volunteer Fire Department on Amity Road, Bethany, CT would be appreciated.
