Paul Pantano Obituary

Paul Pantano Sr.
October 16, 2022
Paul Pantano Sr., 92, passed away on October 16, 2022, in Naples, FL. Paul was born in Hartford, CT on March 18, 1930, the son of John and Pauline (Leone) Pantano. He met his wife, Rosemarie (Cassara), at Weaver High School. During their 69+ year marriage, they never agreed on who reached out to hold whose hand first, but they never stopped holding hands. After graduating from the University of Connecticut with a B.S. in civil engineering, Paul started his career in New York City. He was involved in designing several well-known buildings, including the U.N Library and CIA Headquarters. Ten years later, he started his own consulting engineering firm in Connecticut. Paul liked to kid architects about their complicated designs, but many of them became his life-long friends. Two themes describe Paul's life: hard work and family. Starting at age six when he sold newspapers, to working at a fruit stand in Hartford, and continuing through his professional career, Paul out-worked everyone around him. In 1955, he built a house for his parents from the ground up. Paul was devoted to his wife, helped to raise four children in Fairfield, and always helped his parents and in-laws. During large family get-togethers, he could be found manning the grill, on the dance floor, or sharing a laugh. Joking with his brother-in-law at Christmas, Paul would claim that certain gifts were addressed "to our favorite son-in-law." He was an ardent Mets, Giants and Duke basketball fan and was an avid vegetable gardener. Paul is survived by his wife Rosemarie, his daughter Mary, sons Paul, John and Edward, and 12 grandchildren: Christine, Michael, Alison, Mark, Kate, Michael, Kristen, Larkin, Maryclaire, Eamon, Lizzy and Catherine. Paul's family will receive friends on Saturday, October 29, 2022 from 9:45AM to 10:45AM at Carmon Funeral Home, 807 Bloomfield Ave., Windsor, CT 06095. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 11:00AM at St. Damien of Molokai Parish-St. Gabriel Church, 379 Broad St., Windsor. Burial will follow at Mt. Saint Benedict Cemetery, 1 Cottage Grove Road, Bloomfield, CT 06002. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to the American Kidney Fund - www.kidneyfund.org.
