Paul A. Zaveruha, M.D., FACS, MPH
Nov 19, 1945 – Dec 31, 2024
Paul "Doc Z" Zaveruha, age 79, of Coupeville, WA and Boerne, TX, passed away Dec. 31, 2024. He was the husband of the late Susan (Probert) Zaveruha.
Paul was born in Bridgeport, Connecticut on Nov 19, 1945. At age seven he moved to Stratford, CT, where he grew up until his 20s. He was the eldest of 2 brothers and 2 sisters and 20 cousins. He graduated from Notre Dame High School and Fairfield University, and Georgetown University Medical School. He became a Flight Surgeon in the US Air Force for 6 years and was Honorably Discharged as Lieutenant Colonel. In 1981, he moved to Coupeville WA and set up his Surgical Center medical practice.
He had his hands on the Island's traumas and emergencies thru the Operating Room, Emergency Room and EMS.
He always had his scanners, beepers, and cell phones on for anyone in need of his medical expertise.
He is survived by his partner: Sandra Russell; his daughter Deborah and her husband Robert Burrus of Lindale, TX; daughter Cynthia Zaveruha of Scottsdale, AZ; and son Alexander Zaveruha and Danaé Hansen of Loomis, CA; and grandchildren Sydney and Brent Burrus and a large extended family. A Celebration of Life will take place at 12:00 on July 12th. at Lake Wyola, 28 N. Laurel Dr., Shutesbury, MA.
