Philip Stein Obituary

Stein, Philip W.
Philip William Stein, born April 12, 1935 in Mamaroneck, NY, died in Cambridge Manor of Parkinson's Disease on Friday, December 23, 2016. He grew up in Harrison, NY and graduated from Alfred University. He was a U.S. Army veteran. Philip worked for AMF and Pitney Bowes.
Phil was a very active board member of the Connecticut Audubon Society in Fairfield. He was also very involved with his church, Fairfield Grace United Methodist where he was a member of the Men's Club and Vice President of the board for Parish Court. His hobbies included wood carving in which he was a master at duck and bird carving. He also had an elaborate train collection. Phil was an avid boater and loved to interact with his dock mates at the South Benson Marina.
He is survived by his beloved wife of nearly sixty years, Diana Pinney Stein of Fairfield; his two sons, Philip J. (Gloria) Stein of Shelton and Paul W. (Catherine) Stein of Fairfield; and his daughter, Laura B. (Marc) Fischer of Rochester, NY. He also leaves his seven grandchildren, Abigail, Amanda, Christopher, Logan, Maxwell, Anika and Delaney as well as his brother, John (Phyllis) Stein of Greenwich.
Friends are invited to greet his family on Thursday, January 5, 2017 from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. at the Shaughnessey Banks Funeral Home, 50 Reef Rd. in Fairfield Center. Funeral services will take place on Friday, January 6, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. directly at Fairfield Grace United Methodist Church. Interment will follow in Oak Lawn Cemetery.
