Portia Francis-Crump Obituary
Portia Lavonne Francis-Crump was born on February 23, 1967. She peacefully entered eternal rest on Tuesday, November 8, 2016 at Yale New Haven Hospital surrounded by her loving family and friends at the age of 49.
Her beautiful life will forever be cherished through the lives of her children: Willie C. McBride III of Trumbull, CT; Derek D. Francis of Cohoes, NY and her only daughter, Tierra R. Francis of Trumbull, CT; two-step children Joshua and Tyasia Francis. Portia's love has been extended to her four grandchildren Layla McBride, Willie McBride IV, Bryce Eugram and Nyla Francis.
She is predeceased by her father Solomon L. Crump Sr. and brothers Solomon L. Crump Jr. and Lance Eddy. Paternal grandparents Edward and Carrie Bell Crump and maternal grandparents John and Claire Grace-Terry.
Portia is survived by her mother Claire Grace; three brothers, Jacob Crump of New Haven, CT, Rynell Eddy, Durosola and Marcus Crump all of Bridgeport, CT; five sisters; Debora Barker of Georgia, Clarissa Crump of Massachusetts, Carla, Nyesha, and Monica Crump of Bridgeport, CT and many beloved nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Portia grew up the eldest of nine children. She attended Bullard Havens High School, graduating class of 1985 in Fashion design and worked as a License Practical Nurse for over 25 years. Services for Portia will be held on Saturday, November 12, 2016 at Messiah Baptist Church, 210 Congress Street, Bridgeport, CT. Viewing will be from 9:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m. Services will begin at 12:00 noon. Arrangements have been entrusted to Baker-Isaac Funeral Services, 985 Stratford Ave. Bridgeport, CT [email protected].

I am so sorry for your loss. Portia was such a beautiful person with such a wonderful cheerful personality. I worked with her some 28 yrs. ago at Pitney Bowes. Boy she made me laugh! I'll never forget her cheerful chuckle, the way she snapped her gum, and how I always asked her to French braid my hair, she was the best.
Although we haven't seen each other in many years, I think of her often and will continue to do so. I'm praying for all of you at this most difficult time. I hope you find comfort knowing she's resting with our eternal Father.
