Ralph Rotondo Obituary

ROTONDO Ralph Thomas Rotondo Jr. age 69, beloved husband of Mary McDonnell Rotondo passed away unexpectedly early Monday morning April 6, 2009. Born October 29, 1939 in Bridgeport he is the son of Borghild Rotondo and the late Ralph Thomas Rotondo Sr. Following his graduation from Bullard Havens Tech where he mastered his trade as an electrician he enlisted in the U.S. Navy where he proudly served his country and retired a Masterchief including over 25 years serving in the reserves. He was employed by S.N.E.T. for 32 years. Ralph enthusiastically has volunteered his time and talents in his hometown of Shelton through Biddy Basketball, flag football, the land preservation committee and most notably his years of dedication to the Shelton Little League. For over thirty years he graciously and with joy gave his time and service as president, coach, advocate, and mentor to the youth of Shelton. Ralph enjoyed the outdoors, gardening, UConn basketball, his annual boar hunting trip and always had a project in the works. But by far his greatest passion was his love and dedication to his wife and family. Nothing made him happier than time spent with his family especially his eleven grandchildren that he was Papa to. He will be remembered warmly for his selfless generosity to all he knew and his love and adoration for his family. In addition to his wife of 48 years and his mother, he is survived by four loving sons James Rotondo and his wife Cheryl of Huntington, Ralph Thomas Rotondo III of Huntington , Christopher Rotondo and his wife Toni of Redding, Robert Rotondo and his wife Stephanie of Fairfield, grandchildren, James, Michael, T.J., and Hailey Rotondo of Huntington, Christopher Jr., Molly and Cooper Rotondo of Redding, Jackson, Jenna, Robert Jr. and Nicholas Rotondo of Fairfield, sister Pamela Rotondo of Monroe, several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held Thursday at 10:00am directly in St. Patrick Church, Bridgeport for the Liturgy of the Word. Interment with full military honors will follow in Lawn Cemetery, Huntington. Friends may call Wednesday 4 to 8 p.m. in the Redgate-Hennessy Funeral Home, Main Street and Gorham Place, Trumbull. Those who wish may make a contribution in his memory to the American Heart Association, 1 Union Street, Suite 301, Robbinsville, NJ 08691-4183. Rotondo family,

I was deeply saddened to hear of Mr. Rotondo's passing. My thoughts, as well as those of my mother and father are with you. Mr. Rotondo passed on many life lessons to those that he touched, even if just for a short moment. Spirit of competition, good sportsmanship and the importance to give back to the community are some for which I am thankful. He will be missed and our thoughts are with you and your families.

To the Rotondos,
Ralph was an icon in every sense of the word. He was that to his parents, his wife, his children, his in-laws, his grandchildren, and to those he just passed by along the way. He was a tremendous being who made the most out of life and gave his all to it. You will always have a hole in your hearts with him gone on this earth, but it will be filled with the warm memories, the good times, and the fond remembrances of him. He has not left you, he has only gone to another place, and a place he will always be watching over you. So, keep him with you with you in your hearts, and he will never be gone. There will still be times that you need Ralph, and in those times, he will always be by your sides. Memories and faith is what keeps people with you always.
With sincere sympathy and condolences, Kelly Doyle and Kyle and Ryan Bulkley

I was very sad when I received an e-mail telling me that Ralph had passed on. Ralph was my supervisor in the maintainance dept at SNET-CO, and was the best supervisor ever. We were both navy men and liked to talk about time in the navy. I will miss him, as will all who came in contact with him through the years. Fair winds and following seas my friend.

Mr. Rotondo was such a great guy. He cared so much about his kids and Mrs. Rotondo and many times treated me like I was one of his own, looking out for my best interests and imparting wisdom whether I wanted it or not. I didnt know it at the time, but it was always spot on. I would see him a few times a year around Shelton and it always made me feel good to see him. I will miss that. Mrs. Rotondo, Jimmy, Tommy, Chris and Robby you have my and my familys deepest condolences. My parents also send their condolences from Florida as they have so many great memories of our families together and all the times when my dad and Mr.Rotondo coached together for all those years.
