Raymon Meader Obituary
Raymon F. Meader Jr., 96, beloved husband of the late Elaine Humphrey Meader, passed away at Masonicare in Wallingford, CT October 4, 2018. Ray was born Aug. 7, 1922 in Whitinsville, MA, the eldest son of the late Raymon F. Meader Sr. and Dorothy McGown Meader. He grew up in Whitinsville, MA., then attended Bates College in Maine, and graduated from Parks Air College in St. Louis, Missouri. After graduation, Ray was employed by Pan American Airlines and was sent overseas to Calcutta, India where he flew "over the hump" to China and established airfields in China. After the war, he was employed as an aeronautical engineer until retirement. Ray and Elaine then purchased and ran Colonial Gardens in Fairfield for 10 years. Ray will be dearly missed by his daughter Candace E. Meader of Fairfield, CT, his daughter Gail M. Anderson and her husband Douglas K. Anderson of South Windsor, CT., and his daughter Joyce E. Meader and her husband Steve McCarthy of Brooklyn, CT. Also, he leaves five grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. A graveside ceremony will be held privately at the convenience of the family. I'm so sorry to hear about your Dad. How lucky you were to have him with you for so long. I remember both your parents well & Colonial Gardens. They were such wonderful, caring people. I lost my Dad when he was 67, so young by today's standards. My sympathy extends to you all and know that my heart is with you. It was also so nice to see you at the reunion, you've not changed a bit. Still lovely as ever.
