Raymond Cox Obituary

Cox, Jr., Raymond J.
Raymond J. Cox, Jr., age 51, of Seymour, lost his courageous battle with cancer on Friday, March 17, 2017. He entered into eternal rest surrounded by his loving family. Ray's love of everything outdoors was well known. A rod or a rifle in his hand made him a happy guy. He was an avid Jeff Gordon, NASCAR, Patriots and Red Sox fan. Ironically, he passed away on one of his favorite holidays, St. Patrick's Day. Ray's love of cooking was evident in the hundreds of pounds of corned beef and cabbage he prepared for avid fans at the former Dewey's Pub in Seymour every year.
Ray was predeceased by his mother Faith Cox and wife Michelle Cox. Ray is survived by his devoted girlfriend Marianne Brunner of Seymour; his father Raymond J. Cox, Sr. of Seymour; his brothers Tony Cox (Kim) of Seymour, Daniel Cox (Christina) of Seymour and Richard Cox (Lisa) of Spring Hill, FL and his niece Amber Stevens of Jacksonville, FL. He is also survived by step-son Christopher Brunner; step-daughter Amanda Brunner; granddaughter Skylar and cousins Lisa Finch, Joseph and Stacy Cappellieri and Robert, Harold and Debbie Russell.
Friends and relatives can pay respects at the Miller-Ward Funeral Home, 260 Bank St. (RT 67, across from Klarides Village), Seymour, on Friday, March 24, 2017 from 4:00 until 7:00 p.m. A Memorial Funeral Service in Celebration of Ray's Life will follow at 7:00 p.m. Interment will take place in the Spring.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Miller-Ward Funeral Home to assist with funeral expenses.

Ray Sr. and family, I am so sorry we were unable to make it back down to CT for the service. Ray was a lifelong friend and like a brother. He will be missed. Rest easy Hans my friend.

Ray, you were a good friend and a great man and an incredible cook. You would give the shirt off your back to help out friends and family, I will never forget your offer of help when our boy Gabe was in pain and couldn't walk anymore, you offered to help us. Or the effort and lengths you went to, to try and rescue our neighbors parrot when it got loose and was high up in a tree. I can still hear you swearing at the bird to come to you.
We will all miss your smile and sense of humor, and your love of life.
Rest easy old friend, you are with your loved ones who went before you. You were taken from us to soon.
