Richard Edward Murphy
Richard Edward Murphy, 65, passed away peacefully on Sunday December 17, 2017 at Tidelands Waccamaw Hospital in Murrells Inlet, South Carolina. He was born on November 10, 1952 in Bridgeport, Connecticut, to the late Frank and Mary Stanczyk Murphy.
Along with his parents, Richard was preceded in passing by his brother, Frank Murphy, Jr.
Richard proudly served our country with the United States Marine Corp. Following his honorable discharge, Richard went on to become a commercial account manager with Town Fair Tire. Upon his retirement, Richard was allowed the ability to enjoy the finer things in life. He was an avid golfer, sport fan, and was granted the opportunity to try out for his favorite baseball team, the New York Mets, in 1973. Richard was a faithful Catholic and parishioner at Church of Christ in Trumbull, CT, until his relocation to Pawleys Island in November of 2016, where he became a practicing Christian.
Left to cherish Richard's memory are his beloved children, Melissa Murphy and Richard Murphy; his longtime partner and mother of his children, Cathy Murphy-Talarico; and his nephew, Frankie, all of Milford, Connecticut; his special friends who have shown such love, care and support during this difficult time, Randy and Karen Springer, Mike Garrett, Marshall Hockburgh, Dan "Skipper", Bill "Wheels" Wilson, as well as a large, loving extended family.
A Celebration of Richard's Life will be held on January 3, 2018 at 10:00 a.m. at the Church of Christ, 2 Drew Cir., Trumbull, CT 06611.
