Richard Tomas Obituary

TOMAS Richard P. Tomas, age 59 of Stratford, passed away Monday, March 17, 2008 at Bridgeport Hospital. Rick, a veteran of the U.S. Navy, was born in Bridgeport to the late Andrew and Annie (Tomasko) Tomas and had been a lifelong area resident. He was a service technician for Sherwin Williams in Stratford and prior to that had worked for 17 years at Air Shield. He was a member and past president of Stratford Old Timers Association and was a 4th Degree Knight with the St. James Council of the Knights of Columbus where he was past president of the Building Committee. Rick was an avid fisherman, who loved spending time at the Birdseye Boat Ramp in Stratford. He will be remembered for being able to repair anything that was broken. Rick's family would like to thank Dr. Hari Deshponde and the staff of Yale Medical Center and Bridgeport Hospital for the loving care given to him during his illness. He is survived by his family whom he loved very much, his beloved wife of 36 years, Lynn Kuba Tomas; his devoted children, Richard Tomas and his wife, Meredith of Stratford and Christy Kriz and her husband, Ed of Shelton; his cherished granddaughters who were his pride and joy, Shannon and Emily; his brothers, Joseph Tomas and his wife, Mary Lou of Stratford, William Tomas and his wife, Joan of Florida and Andrew Tomas Jr. and his wife, Mary Ellen of Stratford; a sister, Dorothy Tomas of Stratford; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will take place Thursday, March 20, 2008 at 9:15 a.m. in the Adzima Funeral Home, 50 Paradise Green Place, Stratford and at 10 a.m. in Holy Name of Jesus Church Stratford for the reading of the Liturgy of the Word by Monsignor James Cuneo. Interment with full military honors will be in St. John's Cemetery, Stratford. Friends may call Wednesday (Today) from 4 to 7 p.m. In lieu of flowers, those desiring may make donations to St. James Council of the Knights of Columbus, 2252 Main Street, Stratford, CT 06615.
