Rita Stoverchy , age 89, of Shelton, beloved wife of the late John Stoverchy, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, July 24th, 2024, with her loving family by her side. Born in Bridgeport on October 6th, 1934, she was the daughter of the late Leonardo DelleDonne and Ermelinda Capozzi DelleDonne. Rita was raised in Bridgeport and graduated from Harding High School. She was a dedicated and loving wife, mother and grandmother, always putting the needs of her family and friends before her own in such a selfless manner. She had a beautiful voice and loved to sing, especially with her sisters. Rita enjoyed cooking for her family, especially all of their favorites. Rita cherished dinner time while the family enjoyed the evening meal surrounded by storytelling and laughter. She will be deeply missed by her family and all who knew and loved her. Survivors include her two dedicated and loving children, John M. Stoverchy and his wife Chrysa of Shelton and Joanne Gullo of Tulsa, OK. Five adoring grandchildren, Sebastian, Margo, Christian, Lola and Emily who always brought a smile to Rita's face. She also leaves behind her beloved younger sister Virginia LaQuesse as well as several cousins, nieces and nephews. Rita is predeceased by her sisters Angie, Frances, Theresa and Rose, and brother Joseph. The family would like to thank the Constellation Hospice care team as well as the Fairfield County House of Stamford for their compassionate end of life care.
