Rita Swartz Obituary

SWARTZ Rita Swartz, age 78, lover of flowers, gardening, golf, family and friends, passed away on May 14, 2010 at the Abington Hospice in Warminster, Pa., after a long battle with cancer. Rita led a blessed life full of travel, symphonies and fine food. Cherished wife, mother, and grandmother, family and friends will remember her integrity, compassion for others and strong will. She leaves a lifetime of fond memories with her husband of 60 years, Charles Swartz; her children, Wendy Rapkin of Hills-borough, N.J. and Scott Swartz of Poughkeepsie, N.Y. She was the best "Grammy" in the world to Joel, Ben, Sydney, Samantha, Aaron and Samuel. Before her retirement in 1995, she was a graduate of Johns Hopkins Nursing School, followed by a career in geriatric social work, touching the lives of the many people that she cared for. A memorial service will be held on Sunday, may 16, 2010 at 1 p.m. in Joseph Levine & Sons Memorial Chapel, 4737 Street Rd., Trevose, PA. Interment will follow in Roosevelt Memorial Park, 2701 Old Lincoln Highway, Trevose, PA. In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be mae to Temple Beth Or, Rabbi's Discretionary Fund, 239 Welsh Rd., Upper Dublin, PA 19002.
