Robert D. Sherrick Sr.
November 6, 1935 - March 3, 2023
Robert (Bob) was born in Charlestown, MA on November 6th 1935 and passed on March 3rd 2023. He was predeceased by his loving wife of almost 62 years, Helen Anne Blaikie Sherrick.
The youngest son of the late Frank and Alva Sherrick, he was predeceased by all of his siblings, Howard, Frank, Herbert, Alva, Norma and Doris; as well as his stepfather, James Hurter.
Bob and Anne had six children, Barbara Austin (Thomas George), Robert Jr. (Susan), William (Sharon), Gary (Tammy), Scott, and James (Nicole); as well as 19 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren that they had the honor and pleasure to cherish for many years.
He enlisted in the United States Marine Corps in 1953 and proudly served his country in the Korean Conflict and was honorably discharged in 1956.
Bob worked for the Equitable Life Assurance Society in Boston, MA from 1956 until the company moved to Milford, CT. He retired from the Equitable in 1993.
Bob and Anne were both active in the First Church of Charlestown while residing there and became involved in the First United Church of Christ in Milford, CT.
He was a very active member of the Masons, starting with being a member of Mizpah-Faith lodge A.F&A.M. in Cambridge, MA and then affiliating with Ansantawae Lodge # 89 AF&AM of Milford, CT. Bob was a 50-year Mason. He was extremely active in both the Scottish Rite and York Rite bodies of Masonry as well as a Shriner with Pyramid Shriners.
Bob belonged to several other Masonic organizations and was always active. He has had some prestigious recognitions such as being Coronated a 33rd Degree Mason in 1995, serving as the Most Puissant Grand Master Royal and Select Masters Cryptic Masons of CT in 1995, served as Associated Grand Secretary for his late brother in law, RW Norman H Shaw DDGM of the Grand Lodge of Massachusetts and served as Associate Grand Marshal for his son, Scott, who was the District Deputy (4B) for the Grand Lodge of CT in 2012 - 2013. Bob also served on the advisory boards of Milford Rainbow and DeMolay for many years. He also belonged to the Order of the Eastern Star and Daughters of the Nile.
There will be a Celebration of Life on April 2nd, 2023 at the Milford Masonic Lodge, 59 Broad Street, Milford, from 12:00 pm to 4:00 pm with a Masonic Service conducted by Ansantawae Lodge # 89 at 3:00 pm. Interment will be Private and held at a later date.
