Roberta Gross Obituary

Roberta Gross
January 19, 1937 - September 10, 2025
Roberta "Bobbie" Joyce Gross, 88, of Shelton, CT, wife of the late Sid Gross passed away peacefully on Wednesday, September 10, 2025, at Griffin Hospital in Derby, CT. Bobbie was born in Brooklyn, NY, on January 19, 1937, a daughter of the late Irving and Francis (Spitzer) Milbauer.
Bobbie grew up in Brooklyn, NY and attended Brooklyn College, where she earned her bachelor's degree. She then went on to earn a master's degree in Special Education from Fairfield University. Bobbie was a caring and thoughtful educator, having taught preschool and kindergarten, at the Laurel School in Trumbull, CT, for 27 years. Over the years, while teaching and in retirement, Bobbie had fostered beautiful and long-lasting relationships with many of her former students. She frequently received letters and notes of gratitude that reflected upon their appreciation of her unwavering support to those she taught. As a voracious reader, Bobbie's love for books led to working at the Fairfield Public Library for many years. While there, her friendly disposition and welcoming smile greeted and took care of many patrons and fostered many meaningful connections.
Family meant everything to Bobbie. She is survived by her devoted daughters, Diane Greer (husband, Chip), of Cotuit, MA, Beth Swederskas (husband, Adam), of Norwood, MA, and her adored grandchildren, Ian Greer, of Brooklyn, NY, Samantha Greer of Hamden, CT, and Lily Swederskas, of Norwood, MA. Bobbie was predeceased by her loving brother, Alan Milbauer. Bobbie's extended family provided years of joy and support, which she relished every day, including the Winters, Erenbergs, Milbauers, Resnicoffs, and Kushins. Bobbie had a special and cherished relationship with her cousin, Elaine Winter, who has been by her side for 88 years. In addition, Bobbie cultivated loving and lasting relationships with her two stepdaughters, Valerie Manca, Paula O'shea, and step-granddaughters, Brittany and Olivia Manca.
Throughout her lifetime, Bobbie made countless and authentic relationships with anyone who graced her presence. She was a trusted and loyal friend, who enthusiastically embraced social connections that resulted in years of lasting memories. She will be greatly missed by all.
