Ronald John Baker, 86, passed away February 27, 2024 at the Yale New Haven Hospital in New Haven, Connecticut. Ron was born in Bridgeport, Connecticut. He graduated from Warren Harding High School in Bridgeport in 1955, and the University of Connecticut, from which he received his bachelor's degree, in 1959. Subsequent to graduating from UConn, Ron served in the United States Army and the Connecticut National Guard. He later worked for Sheraton Hotels, where he met his beloved wife Agnes Elizabeth (Fleischer) Baker, and then for Pitney Bowes, for which he had a long 30 year career ending in his retirement in 1996. Ron and Agi were married for nearly 60 years and raised two children while living in Trumbull and Monroe, Connecticut, and Bradenton, Florida. Ron resided in East Haven, Connecticut, for the final 3 years of his life. Ron was known for his great organizational skills, which he used to mentor and help his family, to whom he was extremely devoted and loyal. He also enjoyed his companionship over his final 4 years with his faithful and loyal Shih Tzu, Lily, whom he described as the "finest" of canines.
Ron was predeceased by his beloved wife of nearly 60 years, Agi, and is survived by his son, David J. Baker of East Haven CT; daughter Michelle J. Baker of Santa Rosa, California; sister Linda Brannigan and brother-in-law Gary Brannigan, both of Ballston Spa, New York; special cousins Mary and Russell Lowe of Trumbull, Connecticut; nephew Michael J. Brannigan of Ballston Spa, New York; and assorted nieces, nephews and other cousins.
In abiding with Ron's wishes, private services and interment will be held at a future date in Connecticut. I will miss Ron and Lily strolling about the neighborhood on a beautiful day. He had a smile and a wave for everyone. He would stop and chat if I was outside on his walk route. He was a very kind person...he will be missed.

Ron was a bright light to our community. He baked delicious bread which he often shared. He grew tons of tomatoed which I loved to find at my door. He loved his family and his roommate Lilly. We often talked about Israel especially when I went there last spring
