Samuel Rubenstein Obituary

RUBENSTEIN Samuel Rubenstein, age 85, passed away on Monday, May 30, 2005 at the Jewish Home for the Elderly in Fairfield. Sam was born in Bridgeport, on November 18, 1919, son of the late Harry and Rose Rubenstein, was a graduate of Harding High School's Class of 1937 and was a World War II veteran of the U.S. Army. He was predeceased by his wife of 51 years Sylvia Ribak Rubenstein in 1997, and is survived by their two children, Cheryl Cohen of Sarasota, Fla., and Keith Rubenstein of Milford. He also is survived by his brother, Max Rubenstein of Bridgeport, with whom he operated Rubenstein Brothers Kosher Meat Market in Bridgeport for nearly 40 years; a niece Janice Levy of Fairfield; and two nephews. He was a longtime member of Congregation Rodeph Sholom and Loyalty Lodge #58 and had served as a volunteer at the Jewish Home for the Elderly. The family thanks the K-2 nursing staff, aides and recreational associates (Sam's "Smileys") for the dedicated care and compassionate friendship which he received from them during the past three years. Funeral services will take place on Wednesday, June 1, (TODAY)at 1 p.m. from the Abraham L. Green & Son Funeral Home, 88 Beach Road, in Fairfield. Interment will be in the Loyalty Cemetery, Burroughs Road in Fairfield. Memorial contributions may be made to The Jewish Home for the Elderly, 175 Jefferson Street, Fairfield, CT 06825.
