Smith Jr., Samuel H.
SMITH Samuel H. Smith Jr., age 78, of Stratford, beloved husband of the late Barbara (Taylor) Smith, entered eternal life Thursday, January 16, 2014 in Bridgeport Hospital. Mr. Smith was born September 5, 1935 in Stratford, son of the late Samuel H. and Edith (Sharp) Smith Sr. and had been a lifetime Stratford resident. He retired as a Manager after 35 years of service from Sturm Ruger, Southport and was a member of the Stratford United Methodist Church and the Moose Club #289, Stratford. Survivors include his two sons, Edward Smith and his wife Theresa and Harry Smith, all of Stratford; two sisters, Edith King of Newport, RI and Elsie Mennicucci of Huntington; one granddaughter and two great-granddaughters and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by one son, Richard Smith, four sisters, Louisa Gaudett, Charlotte Kalakay, Rhoda McSparren and Bertha Mirto and a daughter-in-law. Friends are invited to attend his funeral service on Tuesday, January 21 at 11:00 a.m. in the William R. McDonald Funeral Home, 2591 Main St., Stratford. Interment will follow in Lakeview Cemetery, Bridgeport. Friends may call Monday evening from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations in Sam's memory may be made to either the Stratford United Methodist Church, 2600 Main St, Stratford, CT 06615 or Stratford EMS, 900 Longbrook Ave, Stratford, CT 06614. To the Smith Family, Sam was a great and cloes friend. Fond memories of our camping and fishing trips together. Many a good time at the Ponderosa. Will always be remembered in out hearts.
