Scott Bradshaw Obituary

Scott Kyle Bradshaw
August 19, 1955 - July 15, 2023
Scott Kyle Bradshaw, proud son of the Great Plains, died on Saturday, July 15, 2023, from complications from Parkinson's Disease. He was 67.
The son of Judge Dale E. Bradshaw and Donna M. Olson Bradshaw, Scott was raised in Watertown, South Dakota, where he excelled in academics, debate and attained the rank of Eagle Scout. Following high school, Scott spent a four-year enlistment in the United States Air Force, working as a Chapel Management Specialist on bases in Arizona and Soesterberg Air Base in the Netherlands.
Upon his return to the States, Scott attended Augustana College and received his Juris Doctor degree from the University of South Dakota, School of Law. Scott worked as an Assistant Attorney General in the State Department of Social Services and was in private practice for a short period before joining the Air Force Judge Advocate General Corps in 1990.
Scott and his wife, Robin, remained State-side throughout his eighteen-year JAG career. They enjoyed traveling throughout the Southwest, and in particular, reveled in the laid-back lifestyle of desert living, the pottery, art and textiles of the area. Despite their frequent relocations, Scott was rarely without one of his large, friendly dogs-Tugg, Sprocket, Sherman or Ben-who he loved as family and accompanied the Bradshaw's to military bases around the country, notably Nellis Air Force Base in Las Vegas, where Scott served as lawyer for The Thunderbirds.
Following Scott's retirement as a Lt. Col. from Bolling Air Force Base in Washington, D.C., he renewed his interests in golf, politics, travel, and fine dining. Scott also embarked on a writing career, crafting short stories and poetry, some published by the South Dakota Poets Society.
Scott is survived by his wife of 38 years, Robin Guerrieri Bradshaw, his son, filmmaker, Nicholas Hunter Bradshaw and fiancé Leah Margaret Giles; sister Rebecca Lee and husband, Dr. Don Lee; mother-in-law, Barbara Guerrieri; sister-in-law, Ellen Riccio and husband, David; son, Colin Bradshaw, United States Army and his wife, Kymberlie Bradshaw; nieces Kelsey Lee and husband, Will Gibney, Sarah Bradshaw Miller and Katherine Bradshaw; and nephews, Sam and Aaron Lee and Don and Sal Tartaglione. Scott was predeceased by his parents and his brother, Steve Bradshaw.
Scott's valiant fight against Parkinson's could not have been waged without the love, humanity, compassion and tenacity of his "Angel Squad," including Simone Skyers and husband, Damian; Elizabeth and Joel Weissman; and Betsy Yancy. Robin sends a heartfelt thanks to the Squad, as well as Harry Brown, Delia Camus, Cathy Chapman, Elizabeth and Philip Giles, Lisa Graveline, Cathy Kapschull and Susan Rozelle, all of whom, collectively, are not just friends, but family who offered their unwavering love and support throughout Scott's often heartbreaking journey. Lastly, Robin wishes to extend her deepest thanks to Darcy McAlister, the lawyers and staff at Carta McAlister & Moore in Darien, for their steadfast support of Robin and Nick during this truly devastating time in their lives. We could not have gotten through this without you.
Many thanks to Chris Gee at Lester Gee Funeral Home for their compassionate care. A celebration of Scott's life will take place on October 14, 2023, in Easton, Connecticut.
In lieu of flowers, any donations offered may be sent to The Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson's Research.

Scott: you were one of my bestest buddies when I first started active duty in the JAG. I was particularly grateful how you schooled me in Air Force culture. You were a wise, considerate friend.
Robin, please know how he touched so many lives in ways that he probably did not realize. He was a great man-and a good man as well.

I went to school with Scott in Watt. He was one of those exceptional guys that was nice to everyone. My sympathies are with the family as you transition to a new normal. God bless you all.
