Stanley Arthur ("Bobby") Carp, 78, passed away peacefully on August 14, 2021 at Bridgeport Hospital with family at his side. He was born to the late Sylvia (Fleisher) and Sydney Carp of Fairfield and was predeceased by his eldest daughter Melissa McCormack. Stanley is survived by his adoring wife of 57 years, Joanie (Shapiro) Carp, their daughters Nanci (Guy) Afari of Petach Tikvah, Israel, and Amy (Michael) Stolker of Potomac, MD, his son-in-law Paul McCormack of Sarasota, FL, seven grandchildren, Matthew, Rebecca, Eliann, Adam, Morgan, Ryan and Evan, two sisters, Sandra Ouellette of Milford and Noreen Rosenblatt of Fredericksburg, VA, and a family of nieces, nephews, cousins, and extended family, all of whom he cherished. Stanley remained a lifelong active member of Rodeph Sholom synagogue and the Bridgeport Jewish Community since his Bar Mitzvah and basketball days in the '50s. He graduated from Andrew Warde High School in Fairfield (1960), University of Vermont (1964) then passed the CPA examination after serving in the U.S. Army. At a young age he partnered in the then Bridgeport-based firm Nishball, Srebnick, Zaluda, and Carp that kicked off a successful 45+ year accounting career. Stanley was passionate about his entire family, tax laws, playing poker with his friends, volunteering with the synagogue, B'nai B'rith, Hollander House, Probus Club and rooting for the Giants, Mets and UCONN basketball. Funeral Services will be held on Thursday, August 19, 2021 at 10 a.m. at Congregation Rodeph Sholom, 2385 Park Ave., Bridgeport, CT with interment following at the Rodeph Sholom Cemetery, 183 Kings Hwy. E, Fairfield, CT, with a simultaneous live stream for remote attendance at www.greensfuneralhome.com. Shiva will be held at the Carp residence at the following times, with the service at 7 p.m. Thursday, August 19 from 4 p.m.-8 p.m., Sunday, August 22 from 4 p.m.-8 p.m., Monday, August 23 from 4 p.m.-8 p.m., and Tuesday, August 24 from 4 p.m.-8 p.m. There will also be receiving hours on Friday, August 20 from 10 a.m.-1 p.m. The family requires that all guests must wear a face covering. Contributions in Stanley's memory may be made to Congregation Rodeph Sholom or Melissa's Brigade (the Mercer County division of Lisa's Army).
