Mrs. Stella Theresa Szablak entered eternal rest at the age of 90, on the morning of Monday, 11/3/2014 at St Joseph's Manor in Trumbull, CT where she had been a resident for the past 2 years.
Stella was born on 12/10/1923 in Stamford, CT to Mr. Peter Gumkoswki of Russia and Tessie Gumkowski of Poland. Stella was raised in New Haven CT and Graduated from Highland Heights Catholic School for Girls. Stella was a bright, sensitive student who was helpful to others and took pride her academic achievements.
Stella held numerous jobs throughout the years including working as a laborer to support the Troops during WWII. She retired from Birds Eye Printing where she held a supervisory position as a proof reader.
Stella Married Mr. Adam Szablak in 1947 and had two children, Robert and David Szablak. They lived in Bridgeport, CT and later relocated to Old town Road while it was still an unpaved Road. In her later years, Stella moved and lived for many years in the Pinewood Lake community in Trumbull, CT.
Stella was an avid gardener, she loved bird watching, crafting, singing, country music and long walks in the Picquonic Valley in Trumbull, CT; she had a special place for dogs in her heart.
Stella is predeceased by her husband, Adam Frank Szablak, Brother Eddy and Sister Mary. She is survived by her son Robert of Huntington Beach California, son David of New Haven, CT, grand children Adam, Sharon, Cindy and Melissa, great grandchildren Tyler and Kaitlin, brother Rudy Gumkowaki, of Florida, and sister Jane Kearly daughter-in-law Leticia and her beloved English bull dog, Luna.
Stella was an incredibly resilient woman who faced adversity with strength and character. She held her family up and pushed them forward in difficult times. She always had a positive attitude and was full of hope. She was loving, nurturing and generous to a fault. She was a dedicated mother and grandmother who loved her family beyond all.
When we look to the night sky we will find you there for you are now a shining star that will always guide us.
A private memorial service will be held in the near future.
