Theodore Baldyga Obituary
1940 - 2025
Theodore G. Baldyga (Ted) died on May 14, 2025. He was born in Bridgeport, CT, August 24, 1940, to Peter and Mary (Gniadek) Baldyga.
Ted graduated from St Michael's School and Warren G. Harding High School in Bridgeport, and Fairfield University. He served in the US Army in Vietnam, earned a Master's Degree in Urban Planning from the University of Michigan, and participated in formation of the Kosciusko Foundation which sponsors Polish cultural activities with the University.
Ted and Carolann moved to Miami in 1973. He was a city planner with Stutsman Associates, HNTB, Ted Baldyga and Associates, Planning Director for the City of Hialeah, FL, and a member of the American Institute of Certified Planners. Ted volunteered with Habitat for Humanity, was president of Twin Lakes Homeowners Association, and taught English-speaking adults to read. He was member of St. John Neumann Catholic Church Men's Club and Homeless Ministry. Ted enjoyed time with family and friends, summers in Stratford, CT, and travel abroad and in the United States.
Ted was the ninth of twelve children: Peter, Stanislaus, Raymond, Vincent, Irene (Burns), Thomas, Patricia (Kadar) all now deceased. He is survived by his wife Carolann Walach Baldyga, Miami, FL; son Andy Baldyga and his wife, Denver, CO; sisters Veronica Zadrovicz, Fairfield, CT; Regina Chencharick, Bainbridge, NY; Rita Baldyga, Milford CT; brother Daniel Baldyga, Bridgeport CT, four sisters-in-law Terry Baldyga, Louise Baldyga, Eleanor Baldyga, Joan Baldyga and Jean Baldyga Higgins, and many nieces and nephews.
A Memorial Mass was held at St. John Neumann Catholic Church in Miami. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on June 26, at 10:00 a.m. St. Michael's Church, Bridgeport, CT, followed by burial in St. James Cemetery, at 1:00 p.m. in Manchester, CT.
