Theodore McBrien, age 80, of New Fairfield, beloved husband of Nancy Haydu McBrien, passed away on Monday, May 31, 2021. Born and raised in Wolfeboro, New Hampshire, son of late Phillip James McBrien and Mabel Harmon McBrien, Ted was a longtime New Fairfield resident. He was a graduate of Balboa High School in Panama and went on to serve his country during the Vietnam War in the United States Navy for four years aboard the USS Albany and while on the Albany was voted " Man of the Year " for his outstanding service to the Navy. Post military service Mr. McBrien worked as a self-employed carpenter and cabinetmaker for many years. He went on to work for Hunt Country Furniture in Wingdale, NY for thirty five years and became the plant supervisor running the entire production of furniture for the corporation. An avid sportsman his entire life, Ted was an expert skier and a black belt in Chinese Kempo. He was an avid reader and loved the outdoors while traveling to tropical beaches, swimming and boating. In addition to Nancy, his loving wife of 30 years he leaves behind his son, Travis McBrien and his wife Adrienne of New Milford, brothers Robert McBrien and his wife Nancy of Rockport, ME, Patrick McBrien and his wife Diane of Milton, FL, sisters Peggy McBrien of Palermo, ME, Kitty McBrien Carpenter and her husband Stephen of Gray, ME, Betty McBrien of Lincolnville, ME as well as many nieces and nephews. He will be missed by his cousins, Gloria Antignani and her family of Stratford, Linda Chehy of Stratford, Stephen R. Chehy of Canning, Nova Scotia, Kathryn Barrett of Dartmouth, Nova Scotia and many friends. He was predeceased by his sister Connie McBrien Teal. A graveside service will be held on Saturday, June 5 at 12 noon in Mt. Grove Cemetery Garden Mausoleum, 2675 North Ave., Bridgeport, CT. with full Military Honors. There will be no prior calling hours. Arrangements in the care of the Lesko & Polke Funeral Home.
