Theresa Sinanis Obituary

Sinanis, Theresa
Theresa Verrilli Sinanis of Raleigh, NC, formerly of Fairfield, CT, passed away peacefully on Sunday morning, October 26, 2014.
Born Theresa Sylvia Verrilli on May 15, 1929, "Terry" was the daughter of the late Daniel and Nancy Salerno Verrilli of Bridgeport, CT. She was predeceased by her beloved husband, Paul Sinanis, in 2009.
Terry is survived by her son, James Daniel Sinanis (J.D.), her daughter in-law Mirit, and her two grandchildren, Eric Michael and Jenna Reagan, of Raleigh, North Carolina. She is also survived by two sisters, Florence McHugh and Nancy Doering, of Milford, CT. She leaves behind three nieces, Jeanne McHugh, Eileen McHugh and Barbara Ceneri, as well as two great nieces and a great nephew. She also leaves behind many a wealth of family and friends from the Connecticut/New York/New Jersey area.
Terry spent four decades as an employee of Southern New England Telephone Company, taking a five year leave of absence in the 1970's to raise her son. She additionally worked for Cuisinart part-time for many years after her "retirement." She enjoyed her many years of employment and will always be remembered for her strong work ethic.
Terry was a family-oriented person who always made an effort to maintain strong family ties. She was a wonderful entertainer for the many parties and gatherings she hosted through the years and had a great sense of humor. She had many interests including reading, crossword puzzles, cooking, baking, and playing bridge. She also was a long-time advocate of exercise and caring for the environment - decades before these issues became fashionable.
She embraced life fully and was a strong and inspiring force in the lives of those that she touched. In recent years, she was a devoted grandmother and delighted in spending time with her two young grandchildren who adored her in return. She will be missed dearly by her family and friends.
The family will receive visitors on Sunday from 1 to 4 pm at the Fairfield Funeral Home of EDMUND W. DOUGIELLO, 36 South Pine Creek Road.
Mass will be celebrated on Monday at 10 am at St. Pius X Church, 834 Brookside Drive in Fairfield. Burial will be private.
