Thomas Casey Obituary

Thomas Casey Sr.
5/26/59 - 12/13/21
Thomas Casey Sr., 62, passed away on December 13th, 2021 at his home in Lutz, Florida. Tom was born in Bridgeport, CT to the late John and Edith Casey. He was surrounded in love at the time of his passing by his wife of 35 years, Robin, his children, and their spouses: Thomas Casey Jr., Matthew Casey (Ashton), and Shannon Simpson (Elliot). He also leaves behind his loving brothers and their wives, Michael and Carol, and Robert and Karen. Tom was a warm, devoted father, and always had some pearls of wisdom for his kids. He was fiercely loyal and loving to his wife. His family will remember him for his graciousness, his incorrect pronunciation of some words (and his incredulity at being wrong), his steadfast support of the Jets (bless him), his love of blasting some oldies from his Mustang (bless his kids), and his incredible strength and resilience in his fight against cancer. He was hardworking and gracious, loving and affectionate, loyal and steadfast, and wanted nothing more than his family to be cared for, happy, and safe. Even in his final days, he made certain everyone was supported and knew his love. Words can not adequately summarize the depth of his lasting love and influence, but his family takes comfort in knowing his strength and zest for life will live on as principles within those he loved. Tom's last wishes were for anyone so inclined to support the organization of Swim Across the Sound and their championing for fair access to cancer prevention programs, education, and assistance to those 'fighting the good fight'. In Tom's words born from resilience and strength, SWIM ON!!

My thoughts and prayers to his family.

He was a year ahead of me at Kolbe-Cathedral, but Facebook allowed us to reconnect and I loved to read about his adventures and the incredible family he has. He fought a good fight against cancer and his posts continued to be upbeat and positive it seemed until the end.

I wish we had had the opportunity to catch up at one of the SATS events, but timing was always off.

Swim on Tom....
