December 13, 2022
Thomas Earl Strong, age 69, of Oxford, beloved husband of Debra (Mackbach) Strong passed away peacefully Tuesday, December 13, 2022, in the home he built with his loving family by his side. Thomas was born January 25, 1953, in Springfield, MA, son of the late William and Donna (Siddall) Strong. He was raised in Stratford, CT, graduating from Stratford High School, class of 1971. He was United States Marine veteran and a retired woodworker for Porta Door Company. He enjoyed woodworking, antiques, politics, and reading the newspaper cover to cover. He loved a good sporting event, whether it was rooting for the Red Sox, UConn Basketball, Detroit Lions, or any team his family members and friends played for. He was also a kidney transplant survivor for over 10 years. In addition to his wife, he is survived by his daughter, Karisten Rose O'Toole and her husband Brandon; his brothers and-sisters-in-law, Glenn Mackbach and his wife Vicky, Susan Shumyhora and her husband Walter, Paul Mackbach and his wife Debbie, Francis Mackbach Jr. and his wife Tania, and Dawn D'Angelo and her husband Rob; many beloved nieces and nephews; and his dog Mildred. He was also proud his first grandchild is expected in April. In addition to his parents, he is predeceased by his siblings, Billy, David, Peter, and LeeAnn Strong; his mother and father-in-law Francis and Virginia Mackbach; and his brother-in-law John Mackbach. Friends are invited to attend a Funeral Mass of Christian Burial on Tuesday, December 20, 2022, at 10:30 a.m. by meeting directly in Saint James Church, 2110 Main St., Stratford.
