Uno Hautala Obituary

HAUTALA Uno J. Hautala of Monroe, passed away Tuesday, April 28, 2009 at Shelton Lakes Health Care Center. He was 85 years of age. He was the husband of the late Salli Elisa Hautala. Born in Finland, June 24, 1923, he was the son of the late Tuomas and Johanna (Kauppila) Hautala. Uno served as a construction foreman and did shipbuilding in Finland after serving two years on the front lines in the Finnish Army from 1942 to 1944. After arriving in the States via Canada in 1953, Uno owned a construction business for more than 25 years. He subsequently joined Sharp Contractors, Inc. of Norwalk as a carpenter for more than 22 years. He was a member of the Calvary Baptist Church in Darien. He is survived by his two sons, Eino Hautala of Monroe and David Hautala of Grand Rapids, Mich.; a daughter, Seija K. Hautala of Monroe; a brother, Toivo Hautala of Shelton; a sister, Hilja Martysaari of Portom, Finland; and seven grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his son, Alho Hautala. Uno's family will receive friends Monday, May 4, 2009 in Norwalk's Hoyt-Cognetta Funeral Home & Crematory, 5 East Wall Street from 6 to 8 p.m. His funeral will be held Tuesday, May 5, 2009 in the funeral parlor at 11 a.m. Interment will follow in Willowbrook Cemetery, Westport.
