Verleda Shomsky Obituary
Verleda Irene (Husar) Shomsky, age 85 of Huntington passed away on Friday, March 29, 2024, peacefully at home with her loving cat Molly sleeping by her side. Verleda was born in Yonkers, NY on March 3, 1939, a daughter of the late Thomas and Verleda Husar of Bridgeport. Verleda was the beloved mother of David A. Shomsky and his wife Lisa of Huntington, Richard T. Shomsky, and his wife Lynda of Huntington. Verleda also leaves behind her cherished granddaughters, Kristie and her husband Logan Harsh of Fort Collins, CO, Carly, and fiancée Joel Law of Huntington. Verleda is survived by her sister Shirley M. Bayusik, predeceased by her brothers Robert Husar and Thomas Husar of Huntington, her longtime companion Robert Kuraska and former spouse Richard Shomsky. Verleda also leaves behind many nieces, nephews, and many very good friends. Verleda grew up in Bridgeport and attended Harding High School. She eventually moved to Shelton in October 1963. She loved to work out in the yard and had a beautiful Dahlia Garden with many types of flowers. She loved to fill her birdfeeders and watch the birds fly around her backyard. She loved going on cruises, to Cape Cod beaches and the Christmas Tree Shoppe. Verleda also enjoyed going out for lunch with her sister Shirley. Verleda had many different occupations in her lifetime, she drove for the Trumbull School System and Connecticut Limousine. She loved working for the Royale of Derby, a catering hall, where she worked for many years. Verleda would ultimately retire from working at Harvey Hubbell Company in Bridgeport.
Relatives and friends may greet the family on Tuesday, April 2, 2024 from 10:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m. in the Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Rd., Trumbull. A prayer service will take place at 11:00 a.m. in the funeral home. Interment will follow in the Lawn Cemetery East, Shelton. To leave an online condolence, please visit www.abriola.com.

So sorry to hear of Verleda's passing. She was a wonderful and kind soul. We worked together at Royale for many years. Her rice pudding was the best!
