Vincent Cacace Obituary

Vincent A. Cacace, Jr.
On Sunday, August 2, 2020, Vincent A. Cacace, Jr., beloved husband, brother, uncle and friend, passed away at the age of 73. Vinny was born on January 12, 1947 in Bridgeport, CT to Margaret R. (Cullen) and Vincent A. Cacace, M.D. He received his bachelor's degree from Salem College in Salem, WV and a master's degree from the University of Bridgeport. Vinny was a school administrator who enjoyed a long career with the Bridgeport Public School system. On July 7, 2012, he married Audrey Makar in Pompano Beach, FL.
Vinny's defining characteristic was laughter — he created it everywhere he went. His humor was spontaneous, observant, infectious; it was never cruel, though it could sometimes veer to the off-color. His family hopes that, as you read this, you're remembering one of Vinny's famously funny stories or jokes with a smile on your face and laughter on your lips. His phone calls, and there were many calls to many friends and loved ones, opened with an exuberant, "Ey yo!" He was always asking after how you were and telling you he was rooting for you. Vinny had your back. An accomplished boxer, Vinny shared his love of the Sweet Science with countless competitors, friends and students over his many years in the ring.
Vinny was preceded in death by his parents, Margaret R. (Cullen) and Vincent A. Cacace, M.D. He is survived by his loving wife Audrey Makar of Pompano Beach, FL, his sisters Rosann Madan of Boston, MA and Ellen Maxwell of Fairfield, CT, brothers-in-law Anil Madan and Tom Maxwell, nieces Ellen Sarah Ronnenberg of Charlotte, NC and Anjolie Madan of New York, NY, and nephew Thomas F. Maxwell III of Washington, DC.
Due to Covid-19, a memorial service will be held at a future date. In lieu of flowers, Vinny's family asks that donations be made to Big Dog Ranch Rescue (www.bdrr.org). Arrangements entrusted to the Parente-Lauro Funeral Home, 559 Washington Ave., Bridgeport. To sign an online guest book or to send private condolences, please visit www.parentelauro.com

I am so sorry for your loss. Mr. Cacace was one of my favorite teachers back at Maplewood Junior High. He was a great teacher and caring person. You could tell he cared about us and that left and lasting impression which we will carry for the rest of our lives. He always had a smile and went above and beyond. An old school class act. I will add him to my prayers and send the family my deepest sympathies.

Audrey, so sorry for the loss of your beloved Vinnie. He had a sparkle in his eyes, and always smiled when he greeted you, and managed to make A comment about something that cracked you up. When my brother died in Stamford, he sent a beautiful floral arrangement. We were friendly and he was a co-worker; so sending flowers told me a lot about what a good guy he was. RIP Sweet Vinnie.

My deepest condolences to the Cacace family. My memories of Mr. Cacace go way back to probably one of his first teaching assignments at St. Raphael's School in Bridgeport in the early 70's. I graduated St. Raphael's in 1972. He always made us laugh. His classroom was always a fun place to learn. And oh that red corvette!

My sincere sympathy to Vinny's family. Fifty years ago, Vinny took me to my high school prom. Back in the day, when we were young (and he resembled Dustin Hoffman) we would go cruising in his "little blue corvette", not having a care in the world.
I was saddened to hear of Vinny's passing but was happy to see his smiling face in the obituary. Anyone who knew Vinny had to be touched by his caring personality. Obviously, Vinny was a well liked teacher because he was so genuine in trying to meet the needs of all his students. I am sure that his wife and family have the fondest memories of a truly special man.

I was a Police Officer assigned you the Police Youth Center where Vinny participated in the boxing program in the mid 70’s, however he went by the name Johnny Miller, said his father was against him boxing and didn’t want him to know what he was up to, great fighter, great person. Rest In Peace Vin.

I am very saddened to hear about Vinny passing. He called from time to time and always made me laugh. We had coffee many mornings at Bagel King and he was the best part of the conversation. I hope he's in heaven talking with all his favorite prize fighters. Rest in peace Goomba.

Mr, Cacace, I was part of a group of students at St. Raphael School in Bridgeport who were your VERY first students ever. A great attachment was born as we moved from grade 5 to 6 to 7 to 7, so did you. For 4 years you were homeroom teacher, math teacher (I still remember most of the quadratic equation), art teacher, geography teacher...but the best classes were The Rocky & Bullwinkle Show, UnderDog, & Mighty Mouse classes with the tv in the library. THAT was fun. You became like a big brother out of school to a smaller group of us, where lifelong bonds were forged, & we are still friends. We all remember with enthusiasm & love. You loved to laugh & joke. You had great stories. You were only 12 years older than us. That was very young for a teacher. So is this. Thank you for being part the best grammar years in the best school anybody could ever experience. Rest in peace.
