Vivian Reidy Obituary

REIDY Vivian (Carroll) Reidy, age 80 of Fairfield, beloved wife of the late Richard Reidy, passed away peacefully in her home Tuesday, April 8, 2008, surrounded by her loving family. Born in Bridgeport, the daughter of the late Francis W. and Agnes Flanagan Carroll, she had been a lifelong Fairfield resident. She was a graduate of Roger Ludlowe High School, Class of 1945 and was very active in the many class reunions held over the years. An active lifelong parishioner of St. Thomas Aquinas Church, Vivian sang in the choir for most of her life and also served as church organist for many years. She was a member of the St. Thomas Ladies Guild and for many years participated in the Minstrel Shows at the church. She was a member of the Gaelic American Club in Fairfield, a Charter Member of the GAC Glee Club and a member of the American Legion Auxiliary. Vivian was truly an inspiration to her family and many friends. With grace and dignity she fought Multiple Sclerosis for 35 years. She married Dick Reidy in 1951 and together they raised their seven children. She was a loving wife and mother and loved spending time with her large and extended family. Survivors include her seven adoring children, Richard Reidy, Sheila Reidy and Eileen Reidy, all of Fairfield, Peter Reidy of Duluth, Ga., Beverly Reidy of Fairfield, Mary SanAngelo and her husband, Mark of Trumbull and Maureen Fracassini and her husband, Samuel of Fairfield. She was the beloved "Nanny" to Kaitlin and Meghan Maciejewski and Maddie and Caroline SanAngelo. Vivian is also survived by her loving, devoted and caring sister, Nancy Dailey and her husband, Edmund of Fairfield and her beloved brother, Francis (Bud) Carroll and his wife, Susan of Fairfield, as well as many cousins, nieces and nephews. The family would like to thank her loving and devoted caregivers, Maire Brady, Dotrice Johnson and Lavern Chavez`. With their kindness and support, Vivian was able to gracefully live at home. Funeral services will be held Friday, April 11, 2008 at 9 a.m. in the Spear-Miller Funeral Home, 39 South Benson Road, Fairfield and at 10 a.m. in St. Thomas Aquinas Church, Fairfield with a Mass of Christian Burial. To the Reidy & Carroll Families,
Those we Love remain with us,
for Love itself lives on.
Cherished memories never fade,
because one loved is gone.
Those we Love can never be,
more than a thought apart,
for as long as there's a memory,
they live on in our heart.
Mrs. Reidy will always hold a special place in our hearts.
My sincerest sympathy to you.

Aunt Viv was a model of courage and perseverance. She never complained, never gave up and was never without a smile through forty years of fighting MS. She was an inspiration to all who knew her and a blessing to those of us fortunate enough to call her "family."
