William Mickut Obituary

MICKUT William A. Mickut of Monroe, a kind and gentle man, left our world on Monday evening, November 8, 2010. He was the loving and devoted husband to Barbara Dorko Mickut for 47 years; the father of Anne Valentino and her husband, Christopher of Maryland, Nancy Mullany and her husband, David of Monroe, and Carolyn LoCascio and her husband, David of Monroe. He was also the grandfather of Jillian and David Mullany, Amelia and Peter Valentino, and Sebastian and Dominic LoCascio. He was pre-deceased by his parents, William and Mary Kvaka Mickut. Born in Bridgeport in 1937, Bill grew up in Fairfield and lived in Texas for ten years before returning to Trumbull. He served in the Army as crew chief in helicopter units in Germany. He retired from Sikorsky Aircraft after 40 years of service. Bill loved anything that could fly, from aircraft to birds, which was rivaled only by his love of the New York Giants. We already miss him, his love and support. Funeral services will take place on Friday, November 12, 2010 at 10 a.m. in the Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Road, Trumbull, and at 11 a.m. in St. Stephen Church, Trumbull for a Mass of Christian Burial. Interment with military honors will follow in Monroe Center Cemetery. Friends may call on Thursday from 3 to 7 p.m. To light a virtual candle, visit us at www.abriola.com.

Dear Barbara,

I am very sorry to hear from my Dad, Thomas Mickett, that Uncle Bill passed away. I know that I have not seen any of you for the past 25 years now and I am sorry that I missed coming up for the Family Reunion. I will try to make it to the next one when we have one. I am praying for you all and if you need anything please feel free to give me a call. I will do eveything in my power to help.

With lots of Love,
Eric T.A. Mickett

Dear Barbara and girls,
My brother just told me of your loss of Bill. I am so sorry and hope you can find comfort in the days ahead. May God give you a peace that passes all understanding. I remember him as a good and caring and helpful neighbor.

Dear Barbara,

Mary and I are so very grateful to have gotten to know you and Bill as both friends and neighbors over the last five years. I was just telling Mary today how much I always enjoyed my conversations with Bill. Never a awkward or silent moment, he was such a warm and welcoming person. I found him to be very kind and interesting. I will truly miss him and his smile and laugh as well as his wave when I would pass him in the morning on his way to get his morning paper.

He was a wonderful person and will be missed by everyone who has had the pleasure to have known him.

Bill, you and your family are in our prayers.
