Lillian Happy Obituary

In Loving Memory of Lillian Dorothy Happy

Lillian Dorothy Happy, nee Pike was born in Los Angeles, California on May 17, 1924. Lillian, or Lil' as her family and friends called her, was raised by her mother in the Palms section of Los Angeles along with her sisters Birdie (Bea) and Dorothy. She later moved to Culver City, CA and never left.

Lillian attended Palms Grammar School and Hamilton High School. Lillian graduated from Hamilton High School in 1943. During World War II Lillian worked at El Segundo Douglas Company, contributing to the war effort by helping to build US Navy aircraft.

Lillian married her high school sweetheart, Walter Happy Jr., after he returned from World War II on November 4, 1945. He had been a POW in Japan for 4 years. They were married for 50 blissful years until Walter passed away in 1994. Lillian and Walter were blessed with two beautiful children, Brian and Carolyn Happy Ericsson (both deceased) of Culver City.

Lillian went on to work for Pacific Telephone for 20 years as supervisor for the cashier department in Los Angeles. After 20 years she retired and volunteered her time at Brotman Hospital in Culver City. Lil' was a volunteer there for 20 years. She also volunteered for the Culver City police Department for 10 years.

Lillian and Walter Happy were active in their children's Little League, Brownies, and Culver City school activities. She was active in her high school reunion committee as the Treasurer. In Lillian's later years, she met Mr.Bill Fecho through her association with the Culver City Exchange Club and they could be seen all over Los Angeles attending functions and enjoying each other's company until Bill's death in 2015.

Lillian is survived by her grandchildren Christopher and Jamee Happy, her 5 great grandchildren, her nephew Russell Barnes and his wife Lelia, and her daughter-in law, Jenelda Happy. We will remember fondly all the fascinating stories she told us about growing up during the depression, during the second great war, and all the love she showed each of us. She will
be tremendously missed. In lieu of flowers, please send donations made in Lillian's honor to The
American Cancer Society at donate.cancer.org.
