Cathie Adams Obituary
July 3, 1947 - December 23, 2025
Cathie Ann Adams, 78, of Carlisle, passed away on Tuesday, December 23, 2025, at Carlisle Hospital. She was born on July 3, 1947, in Mechanicsburg to the late Ralph E. and Mary E. (Wolf) Goodling.
Cathie graduated from Carlisle High School with the class of 1965. She retired as the secretary to the Superintendent after 39 years of service with the Carlisle Area School District. She was a member of Carlisle Evangelical Free Church. She had a devoted relationship with Jesus Christ and spent much time in prayer and reading the Bible. She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren, tending her flower garden, and watching her birds in the backyard. She was known to many as a master seamstress over the years.
Cathie is survived by her loving husband, of 59 years, T. Randall (Randy) Adams, three sons, Keith (his wife Erin) Adams, Scott (his wife Wendy) Adams, and Ryan (his wife Britney) Adams, all of Carlisle, one brother Mark E. Goodling of Carlisle, two sisters, Janice Widders of Carlisle, and Dr. Faye A. Goodling of Narrows, VA, five grandchildren (Kaitlyn, Jeremy, Wyat, Garet, and Hailey) two great grandchildren (Emery and Addison) and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother Dale A. Goodling.
A viewing will begin at 9:30 a.m. on Saturday, January 3, 2026, followed by a funeral service at 11:30 a.m. in the Carlisle Evangelical Free Church, 290 Petersburg Rd. Carlisle, with Pastor Keith Adams officiating. A fellowship meal will follow the service at the church. The burial will be private in Longsdorf Cemetery, 201 N. Locust Point Rd., Mechanicsburg. www.EwingBrothers.com

Randy & family please accept my sincere condolences on the passing of Cathie! It was a privilege to have her serve as an executive secretary when working in CASD. She was an excellent worker who demonstrated her dependability everyday. Her ability to handle difficult parent calls was a skill that many others learned from her with a smile.
She was very proud of her family and relationship with her church. Those sewing skills saved my shirts & pants more than I care to tell.

Cathie was a gem. She was my first real boss in the business world. I started working for her at the Carlisle School District when I was 15 in the summer. I worked hard (before computers) but it was fun too. She taught me many things that I use to this day. I'm so sorry for your loss. I remember when she was pregnant with her son. She was so happy with her family and her life all the time. She truly was a uniquely just great person.
