Born June 12, 1922, in Mt. Union, he was a son of the late Brady and Annie Mackey Dunkle and the widower of Sylvia Mae Gutshall Dunkle, who died April 5, 1990.
He was an Army veteran of World War II, working as an engineer. He worked at the National Gallery of Art, Washington, D.C., and retired as an inspector from SKF Industries, Shippensburg. He was a member of the Hub City Club, Minnequa Social Club, Durff-Kuhn VFW Post 6168, and AARP Chapter 2525, all of Shippensburg. He was an avid history buff.
Mr. Dunkle is survived by two brothers, Earl Dunkle of Mt. Union and Richard Dunkle of McVeytown, and a number of nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by one son, Frederick Ramsey, and one sister, Betty Dunkle Couch.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday in Fogelsanger-Bricker Funeral Home, 112 W. King St., Shippensburg. Burial with military honors by the Shippensburg VFW and American Legion will be in Parklawns Memorial Gardens.
Friends may call one hour prior to the service Monday in the funeral home.
